L’économie en 2017, notamment au second semestre, semble marquer une amélioration par rapport au rythme fortement ralenti de 2016, et être ainsi sortie de la période aigüe de la crise du nickel. L’indicateur du climat des affaires, tiré précisément par des niveaux de production miniers et métallurgiques records, retrouve ainsi en fin d’année le niveau de début 2015.
Between hopes and tensions
The economy in 2017 seems to have picked up, particularly in the second half of the year, compared to the sharp slowdown in 2016, and thereby to have come out of the acute nickel crisis period.
The business confidence index, which is indeed driven by record levels of mining and metal production, recovered the level of early 2015 at the end of the year.
